AMC’s Interview with a Vampire is for the Grown-Up Twilight Girls

Yes, Interview with a Vampire is a book written by Anne Rice in the 70s, way before the Twilight trilogy. It is the first book in a long series that follows the Vampire Lestat and one of his victims, whom he turns, Louis de Pointe du Lac.

There was also a 1994 movie starring Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise. The new show, however, is way more modern, taking more risks and being a funnier watch overall.

Influenced by popular shows in the new era like Euphoria and maybe even The Vampire Diaries, the AMC show that premiered in 2022 is the perfect answer for viewers who miss seeing vampires on their screens and who appreciate solid TV.

Audiences have been interested in/obsessed with the stories of vampires for years. Starting with Dracula and continuing through vampire romance shows like The Vampire Diaries and True Blood. Something about seeing how humans become vampires and learning about their past lives: also, their loves are either mortal or destined to become immortal.

Watching Interview with a Vampire, I was happy with the actors, their performances, and the setting and wardrobe. The show is definitely for mature audiences, and with the vampires, the love stories, and the turning of humans into immortals, I can’t help but think this is the perfect show for people missing Twilight.

Twilight as a whole, books and movies, is very one-dimensional. A teenage girl falls in love/infatuation with a vampire, and the vampire is tormented by his love for her. The girl then abandons family and friends to join the vampire’s family, and in later books, war starts.

Audiences, teen girls especially, LOVED the angst, the romance, the absurdity of it all.

Interview with a Vampire is for this girl.

The one who, from time to time, turns on Twilight, maybe, when the seasons are turning from summer to fall, for the vibes and for the comfort of a familiar story.

This girl grew up but never grew tired of dark romance and tragic love stories. Vampires and werewolves were just a perfect way to experience this.

The story in Interview with a Vampire traditionally fits this genre, but the modern show transforms it into a Twilight-Vampire Diaries-True Blood-esque art piece.

So, go ahead and give the show a watch; you may already know what to expect, but even so, you will be in for a pleasant ride.
