Nowadays, remakes and sequels are, seemingly, the way to go. Depending on who you ask.
We have remakes of movies like the Joker/Dark Knight (even though I feel like comic books and superhero remakes should be in a different category), remakes of old movies like “The Fly”, “The Thing” or “Ocean’s Eleven” and remakes of classical movies or stories like Disney or Grimm fairytales.
The question is with the new remake of Carrie as a TV show instead of a movie, not is it good or should we watch it, because if you don’t know the story of Carrie or what to expect by now, you have been living under a rock.
The question is, what other remakes should we just lean in to the trend and make?

The biggest thing with remakes like Carrie, for me, is that making it a tv show gives it something different. The story also has universal themes of high school drama, bullying and fear that plays all during any generation.
To really showcase something different, you have to find unique, random movies that no one remembers and pay them some respect. Also, find movies that were not perfect the first time……
Here is my list of some movies Hollywood should think about remaking!
The Truman Show!
Now I know I just said to not remake movies that are already perfect and this movie is pretty perfect, BUT in modern times I think this movie would be all the more intriguing.
Additionally, bring back the early 2000 romcoms:
- John Tucker Must Die
- She’s the Man
- Easy A
- The House Bunny
With the storyline and (hopefully) the modern humor, these movies would be great to see remade
Last but definitely not actually last are the flawed movies.
- Birdemic
- Superbabies
- Sharnado?
The niche bad ones that would still draw people in!
There are so many options (I guess I get why Hollywood keeps doing it!)
Beauty, fashion, and gaming brands already run against this one. If your buyers are adults 18-49 watching Carrie on Prime Video, book a strategy call and we’ll map where your budget fits.
